I think it's been going alright. The passenger side isn't perfect, it has 2 coats of epoxy and 3 coats of high build primer. It actually feels like it blocked out in prime. It's getting bedlined... The driver's side is going to look better, go quicker. Should be back to white next weekend and maybe even have the box re-installed. The bottom of both rockers were sanded and epoxy coated. The inner rockers were epoxy coated, inside the new metal was coated, and above the cut on the cab corners on the inside was coated as well.

Driver's side is fiberglassed and about ready for plastic body filler. Hopefully primed New year's day. I learned a lot doing the passenger side first.

Looking real good.
Glad to see you are taking the time to do it right.

Thanks. I still have payments on this truck, so this rust was just that much worse in my mind. These cab corners and an inch of the rocker in front of it seem to be the only rust on this truck. I hope to keep it until it's old.

So I hate to rain on the parade but this will be an excellent learning lesson a couple of years from now, something I went through myself 30 years ago.

A metal patch with fiberglass or adhesive is not a long term repair so we'll have to address that in the future.

BTW, there are many really good 120V mig welders out there.

I just sold my 20 year old Cebora welder that got me through dozens of jobs so there are alternatives.

What's gonna happen? Everything I've seen recommended fiberglass body filler over the new metal or epoxy. What's the fiberglass body filler going to do?
