This is a 1992 Mercedes E Class....isnt this unibody car? Does something like this look something that is potentially fixable?

Yes its repairable.
Is it safe to drive? looks like you've been driving it.

Until all the undercoating is removed its hard to say how much rust damage their really is.
It does look fairly well cooked though, Their is gonna be some cutting and welding going on to fix it, how much? no one can really give you an honest answer till all the undercoating is stripped away and the carpet pulled up as well then you can see how far it goes and how deep you need to get into it.
