Just a gentle reminder to folks after my own stupidity

I have a tendency when patching a hole to turn my head and just do a zap, done it that way my whole life as an amateur repairer.

Then helmet on for stitch welding away, be that mig ot tig

Well not any more, yesterday did that on a floor patch panel i was fitting at about 3pm, just tacking a panel in that i had spent the day shaping etc, later that night around 10:30 my eyes started to feel a little bit sore, fast forward to 2am and my eyes were burning, i could not see and was light intolerant, ended up at emergency in the local hospital

Symptoms of welding flash burns of the cornea apparently take 7-10hrs after the incident, today is the day after, currently wearing thick black uv laser glasses on to allow the corneas to heal and repair, let me tell you its not pleasant

Dont be me, welding glasses on.

Excellent advice. Never not use PPE the way it was intended.

Simso, sorry you had to find out the hard way. Hope it gets better soon.

Take it easy, mate.

Just turn on the radio and tune in to the Olympic results. When they read out the medal tallies feel proud that, per head of population, we are, once again, wiping the floor with just about every other country, whether they're 15 or 50 times bigger.

Goes along with dont use cheap China made junk auto darkening shields either! Do your research spend some money on them they are worth it. I don't have a fancy super hi dollar unit but I did do some research before buying the one I have. I have had two of them after using one you wont got back to the flipper helmets.
