anyone know how to polish chrome wheels that have oxidation growing? can you wetsand and polish like a normal aluminum wheel? or do i have to strip the chrome off and just polish the junk? i've already tried a few compounds to try and rub/polish em but it does nothing for the oxidation. thanks

It depends on how good you want them to look. I have a set of wheels that don't have to look good on close inspection but just driving down the road. They had some pretty heavy oxidation of the chrome in spots. I used a 3M surface conditioning disk on my drill to remove the worst and then went with a 4" buffing wheel and some buffing compound to smooth and polish them out. I ended up with a few spots with no chrome left but the metal underneath shined up nicely. I just added a good coat of wax and they are fine for a daily driver. If you need better than that, stripping them completely is likely the only way.
