I have a 55 Checy Belair I am restoring. The car was wrecked on driver side so I purchased a door out of a salvage yard. The door has a little rust. Whats the best sanding method? Do I take it down to metal? One spot I sanded (under rust) Looks like small pits (which it feels smooth) but I wonder if I should sand til these spots go away? Any tips appreciated. I have never done any type body work but love to learn.

Thanks

Nice.

What I'd do is strip with 40 on a rotary sander, put a grinder to pits and then cover the whole door with metal conditioner (something with phosphoric acid) and then epoxy.
