Cut factory clear coat... What next?

Discuss anything after that final masking comes off.

Still working on my motorcycle. The aluminum turned out great so far thanks for the help!

Last thing I started to do was sand out some rust spots on the fendors.
I used some body filler and sanded it smooth.

The fenders were REALLY bad for rock chips ect, the paint actually felt a little like sand paper after all these years. So I smoothed and cleaned up the factory clear with some 2000 grit. And filled small scratches and chips.

Now i'm undecided what to do next.

I tried buffing a small section with compound by hand and it came out cloudy...
Should I buff more (perhaps rotary tool) and compound or should I re clear coat the whole thing then cut with 2000 grit and buff?

It doesnt have to be perfect or terribly durable my goal is just to clean up a few spots and hope it lasts a season till I can have it done by a pro.

It's the original factory paint/clear coat i'm trying to polish.
Sorry I should have been more clear... I'm repairing the bigger scratches and chips with body filler then prime and paint. The rest I was just going to polish.... But I suppose it might just be easier to primer it all then paint and clear coat.

Hard to say... I'm trying to come up with a game plan. I would rather not have to do the whole thing but ive filled and sanded about 1/3 of it so it might just be easier.
