I am looking for a decent DA sander this is my specs of my compressor:

Tank Size: 60 Gallon ASME*
Maximum Pressure: 135 PSI
CFM @ 40 PSI: 13.4
CFM @ 90 PSI: 11.5
Voltage: 240 Volt
Running HP: 3.7

I really do not want to spend more than $200 but all of the higher end DA's seem to need 17scfm or better. Thanks

I don't think you'll find any that your compressor can keep up with.
The cheaper ones usually use even more air.

It's not a problem, your compressor can handle most everything else so
just go electric for sanding.
Nothing strips paint quicker than a buffer.
And there are plenty of good RO electric sanders for finish sanding.
The "right angle" ones are much stronger than the palm ones
and better suited for car work.

Thanks JC, so I have a Porter Cable 7424 XP, is this the kind you are referring to?

Yes, I use that very one all the time.
It's great for dry sanding clear if you run it at about half speed.
It also is great for final polishing to remove swirls.
It's been a good tool for me and held up good for about 15 yrs now.
I hope the new ones are built as well, a lot of their stuff is being
built over seas now.

That’s great JC!! Thanks so much for the replies. I never thought of using it for sanding, and wasn’t sure of the orbit. Only have used it for polishing.

I bought that tool originally for my woodworking for sanding.
It's great on wood.

But I have found a tool even better than that, a Bosch 6" sander that has
a switch to either be random orbit or rotary only. But it is over $200.00
I'm still testing it out but so far I'm very impressed how aggressive and
strong it is. This seems to be the best of both worlds.
Finally, an electric sander that can be all rotary, great for car work.

Thanks JC I am really "eyeing" that sander! I like it has a 3/32nd orbit. Seems like a nice machine. Going to give my PC a run and see how it does this week before I make up my mind on the Bosch. Being that the PC is fairly new and have only used it for buffing my Mustang I should have some decent life left in it for now.
