Hi
New to the forum and have just completed my first car spray job, did it in a gazebo and i think it turned out well.
i just want to know what to do next as i have been told i have to wet sand and cut then polish to get a perfect shine and finish

here is a link to my car pics in primer and then sprayed
would like advice on what to do next, the clear coat was Omi-Cron® M.S Clear
i thought the clear sprayed very well and has a shine to it already.

Hey Ugly1

Looks good for an outside job although all internet pics are lacking.

Next is Cut and Buff, check out the Cut Buff detail pages of the forum.

This is the cut and Buff forum my bad lol :knockout: what can I say? senior moment there happening more and more frequently these days lol

If your gonna do more than than just Spot correction i e whole car.

My opinion is to sand wet with soapy water and 1200 with soft foam pad till uniform when dry then Use a good Rotatory variable speed Buffer buff with a Twisted Wool pad with Presta Ultra.

followed by soap and hot water bath and a good inspection checking for places that need more buffing, don't skip the washing step I like to use a mild mix of liquid Tide laundry detergent it gets all the fillers and wax out so you can inspect the finish without the compounds fillers if its all good follow that with Black or Blue foam pads with Presta Swirl remover.

they also have a couple other systems to check out, this one is pretty complete with more than enough to do one car and includes quality buffing pads.

Oh and Wash your Pads OFTEN while buffing
I will do a 2x2 and wash & rinse my pad especially on my initial Buff with wool.
the wool and the compound are very aggressive and will clog up the pads quickly giving you swirls or Hologram look. I HATE SWIRLS!!!!

You can also Try a DynaBride Orbital attachment on any Rotary Buffer which prevents swirls as it doesn't cut in a strait rotary spin it makes your rotary an Orbital buffer much more aggressive than an ordinary Orbital buffer but Not even close to the cutting action of the ordinary Rotary buffer so you have an extreme reduction in chances of buffing through your clear.
I have two of these myself and hand them to any one that cares to try Buffing for the first time. You can buff through clear quick with a strait rotary buffer and a Wool pad care must be taken on all body lines. I will sometimes also Tape off all body lines when sanding and Buffing with a rotary buffer then finish with the Orbital.

My current steps to cut and buff:
Wet sand 1000, 1500 and 2000 making sure not to leave any heavy grit scratches behind.
Twisted wool and Meguairs M-100
Lake Country CCS white pad and Chemical Guys V-34
Lake Country CCS black pad and Menzerna FF-3800

Not to take away any Glory of Coronets outstanding work.
This is a Job I did two days ago Fresh clear right over the top of old sun faded Rock chipped hood sanded by hand with 3M 600 grit wet then I Sprayed two coats of MS clear let it flash 30 minutes between coats & let dry over night.
Sanded once by hand with 3M 2000 Grit wet to remove the Dust Bunnys, If Orange peel would have been bad I would have used 1200 grit paper but my Devilbiss Plus gun provides a decent finish So after the Quick cut with 2000 grit I Did my initial Buff with a 3M Twisted wool pad on a Dewalt Variable speed buffer with a Dynabride Orbital attachment and Presta Heavy cut compound followed By a 3M Black foam pad and Presta Swirl remover same Buffer and Attachment.

Excuse the Dust on the Paint in my pic didn't realize it would show so bad.

I am lazy and I hate buffing so the faster I can get it done and over with the better!
Just my opinion but the less I have to do makes it even better in my opinion.
Quick fast Getterdone!
