Still having issues with color sanding to buff, the Tamco 2140 clear. I would like to try sanding dry and see how it does.

What kind of issues?
What steps are you using now?
What compounds and pads?

I thought I'd posted a reply but see it didn't show up---
We normally start with 1200 to 1500 wet sand paper, then move to 2000, 3000, and 4000 Abralon 6" and use their 3" where it is needed.
This time we tried the Red Label wet dry 2000 grit 6" da cutting paper and had issues with the "squigleys". Double and triple checked to make sure we were not picking up dirt or debri. We are wet sanding with these. We can get these out using the next step but it is like cutting stone.
Highly suspicious that we have a paper issue on this. (squigleys)
next-
I tried using my rotary polisher with wool buff and moved from that to a flex 3401 with foam heavy cutting pads then to light cutting pads using Menzerna 300-400-2400 compounds before polishing.

It would depend on the amount of orange peel in your clear coat as to whether 1200 is a good starting place. Also depends on if your are trying to match existing finish on car or going for show car look.

My process has been developed over the years and currently goes like this:
1000 grit wet on a hard block to remove any peel and dust
1500 grit dry on an orbital DA with 1/2" thick foam pad/ hook and loop
2000 grit dry as above

Rotary buffer with twisted wool pad and Meguiars M-100 (this is my #1 favorite) and will leave the finish nearly perfect by itself.

From there I will use the rotary with a white foam pad and Chemical Guys optical grade.

Last is Menzerna FF3800 on a black foam pad.
