Hey all,
First off, thanks for reading my post.
I just finished a rust repair and painted my car. It went well IMO however the old paint and new paint didn't quite blend as I wanted.
After I let the clear coat dry for 24hours, I sanded with 3000 and applied Maguire's ultimate compound but that didn't much help.
Any suggestions are appreciated!

Nothing fancy. Aerosol primer, base, and clear.
Did the job outside in the shade with humidity under 40%. I've been told elsewhere that I didn't topcoat the Part where I you can see the difference. I did go more conservative on the clear coat than I did with the top coat. |
Is the new clear over non sanded paint?
I don't think you'll ever get a good blend with a 1K product like aerosol can clear. JC.

Yea it is. Any suggestions on how to get this blended a little more? Sand, base and clear with 2k? |
I always use a fast setting 2K clear for blends and spray a little blending
solvent on the edges immediately after the last coat of clear. I also prep the blend area first by sanding the existing paint up to 3000 grit where the transition is going to be. Blending is always a challenge, most times it's easier in the long run to go bigger area than you think, stair stepping each coat. I will always clear the entire panel when possible. JC.
