I followed this "recipe" exactly this week and can tell you that I did my best cut/buff job on a bike tank ever. I'm sure there are other combos that will do the same but after looking at some of his pics, I knew his combo works--I'm sticking with it.

just adding to this.....followed this formula for the last 3 jobs and they all came out perfect--not changing anytime soon.

3M. It costs a bit more but doesn’t sling as much and you don’t use much either. I also use the Chemical Guys V38 for final sometimes.

Yup all you guys use a 3 step process or even 4.
I prefer a simple two step process
One cut with 1200, One Polish with Twisted wool pad with Polish designed to remove 1200 grit scratch then a final polish of Swirl remover on soft foam pad done.

Wash Pads out frequently with water in process.

Is it as good as everyone else's? I dunno I get a Mirror reflection lie everyone else its good enough for me as Long as I don't have any Swirls and Hallograms I am happy.

I worry more about Dieback from cutting & Polishing too soon. Had it happen more than once now.

Well, I am a firm believer in the 3 step method that I copied--it worked for me. Having said that, I recently ran out of Menzerna Super Finish 3800 and have replaced it with Chem Guys V38 since my supplier did not have Menzerna. I have not tried it yet but expect it to be similar (I hope ).

Every one has a different way of getting their, I have tried many systems including 3Ms Perfect it system, Hated it! too many steps and all of it expensive to use.

I like a simple system, As long as the end product is smooth and shiny who cares how you get their?
