I’m doing a rust repair and repaint on a body panel, and am having troubles blending my clear coat with the factory clear coat, because I just repainted a section of the panel. The border shown in the picture appeared while wet sanding with 1000 grit, and went from a thin line to the wider line seen.

Did I sand through the clear coat into the paint? If so, how can I more effectively blend my clear coat with the factory coat?

Thanks,

Jack

I do all my blends with the clear going over the existing paint that's
been sanded to 3000 grit. right at the blend line. usually about 2" of
the existing paint. I move my offset tape line and spray a blender coat on
the edge immediately after the last coat of clear.
Hope that makes sense.
JC.

(It's not custom painting-it's custom sanding)
