Why when I go to the posts and there are pics posted I just see the word image? thanks

I am new to the site. I was a member before but can't get back on. I did not see an attachment option for a new post. Do I need to have a number of posts before I can load pics? Old email was briansglock@yahoo.com Don't remember screen name or password.
