I will be painting my truck again this year. Actually I'm doing flames then HOK clear coats. Last year I paid someone to colorsand my truck. Cost about $275-300. I'm seriously getting into painting and I paint alot. Would it be worth it to just buy the equipment and supplies and do it myself? I know to use 1500-2000 wet, and I've read the Makita variable speed buffer was the way to go. What are the other products I need? Any tips? Thanks,
Christine

Do it yourself. Get some foam waffle pads for your variable speed buffer and some finishing compound. I use 3M products myself, but there are many brands to choose from, but I will not and can not endorse products that I haven't used my self. As far as the foam pads they come in different grits as well., for heavy, medium, and light compounds, and for polishing. Your supplier will be able to tell you what you need for what products you use.
