I think that pink with green polka dots will look sweet on my 240. Can I vote now and still get the paintjob? Just wondering....

This is late, but hopefully someone will be coming back to it----what about those little "dust bunnies" and small blemishes that we get when we spray the base coat in our garage (and not a paint booth)? I've only done single stage jobs before and always sanded the final coat with 1500 to get them out before buffing. You're saying you just spray over them with the clear without sanding first? |
For the most part dust nibs are only noticeable because they're sitting on the surface of the paint and not buried underneath clearcoat. You can sand out imperfections with 1000 but you should put some more basecoat on before clear.

Why?? you don't want a pink Z28 |

Are you dry sanding? Because I get scratches too when dry sanding but never have when using the same paper to wet sand. JC.

I don't have a problem with dry sanding, I was just making a point that
I generally have to use a finer grit with dry vs wet. I've noticed this with my 2k primer. 400 wet was fine but when doing it dry I needed a finer grit to keep the scratches from showing up on the base. It was 3M wet/dry paper. I used 600 on the dry primer and it was fine. A lot of people have told me the 400 was to coarse but I never had a problem using lots of water with it. JC.
