This weekend we are painting my son's Geo using inexpensive single stage 2K automotive paint. Because this is a Geo, and the value of the car is less than good paint, we were just sanding it down to the original pimer, then spraying it with the paint
My main goal it really "trigger-time" to practice before my next project.
Anyhow, as soon sanded, a few small spots (1-2 inches) he sanded through to bare metal.
I was thinking I would just squirt those spots with a rattle can etching primer, but wanted to check with the group to see if that is a bad idea.
My other thought is that I do have a little Omni epoxy primer left over from something else and u could use that... Again, either way I am going to just good the bare metal spots.
Would one option be better than the other? The rattle can Etching primer is from an automotive paint store and is not Rust-Oleum, but I cannot remember the brand.
Thoughts?

Well, epoxy primer is always the best but a lot of
body shops don't use it. The ones I know of just spray a little etch and go on, it's much quicker and it does just fine. That's pretty typical. JC.

Excellent! Thanks for verifying that for me. I feel better now. I can't wait to see how it turns out.

Shouldn't he use a Regular primer over the etch before Top coating?
