Thats right Turn your Rotary Buffer into an Orbital buffer!
I have a couple of these They work good! They are Very forgiving on Clear coat with Twisted wool. It does not cut as fast as a Normal variable speed Rotary Buffer with this attachments on and your less likly to burn through body lines as well gives excellent results when used properly. And you don't have to worry about Swirls.

I recently sanded my hood out with 600 on my GTO and resprayed some clear on it.
After I did a light sanding with 2000 then I hit it with the Orbital attachment on my Variable speed buffer and a wool pad and Presta heavy cut followed by a Black foam pad and Presta Swirl remover.

Excuse the dust on the surface of the reflection pic I didn't think it was going to show so bad

I didnt have a Micro fiber cloth around when I took the pic.

This Orbital attachment inst for everyone!, It does cause a lot of Vibration.
I am sold on these things though, again It's no where near as fast as strait rotary but I don't fear burning through my clear coat at all. Its a very forgiving way to Buff.

i love my porter cable 7424. got it when i did my first paint job then got into detailing. abslutely no chance of burning paint with it. however, it is very time consuming when it comes to buffing after wet sanding. i did break down and start using a rotary(note to rookies- they have variable speed ones for a reason- so rookies like me can turn down the rpm's to learn and not burn through fresh paint on a 96 silverado) but still use the 7424 for final polish.

thats a pretty slick attachment- about the same price as a 7424xp. :)

That Portercable 7424 is smaller lighter and has a cheaper price as well !

I wonder about the DA action comparison between the two?
Which one is more aggressive? Which one has less vibration?

looking at the Porter Cable it appears to be just an attachment on the machine similar to the Dynabride have you ever tried to remove it?
It doesn't look like they provided a way to lock the output shaft so you can?

I like the option of being able to switch between the two.

dennis, if i read the description right the dynabrade has a 3/4" orbit. the pc isnt near that but still quite agressive. i think ive read on meguirs online and autogeeks forum that theres some RO buffers with a larger throw than the pc.
i cant really say which has less vibration but personally dont think the pc is bad- my hands arent shaking an hour after detailing a car anyways.
the output shaft doesnt have a lock.the newer model 7424xp might. theres a thin wrench needed to hold the shaft to remove the backer. theres also some srubbing attachments i purchased to do a little carpet cleaning, too.

they seem to do a pretty good job. i use a spray bottle to spray some cleaner on the carpet, scrub it,then suck it up with my shopvac.

Well the 3/4" throw explains the Vibration at Hi speed lol But it seriously makes short work of 2000 grit Sanding scratch with a Wool pad lol.
