so my 69 vette has typical cowl rust, worse on drivers side, my health, budget, OCD ADD
have me wanting to do a good repair but it doesnt need be purist perfect, im a modder,

the white in the pic is ospho, my plan is to cut most of that top off to get to the rust inside clean it and if needed weld in patches then skim it with kitten hair to fill in anything i miss, weld a new top on that area and do the same to it, so if its clean, and well coated in the cat hair then sealer primer paint, should it last a fairly long time whats there took 50 years,

i just want to get her back to being a driver,

thanks
b

Yikes!
Not a Rust repair for the faint of heart!

This job will require a Lot of tooling Drill,s Die grinders, cutting wheels, Sanding disks a good a good Mig welder, Tig welder or Gas welding and the experience to not only know how to use each but the knowledge of when to use which welding method.
That said can you use only Mig or Just Tig or just Gas? Yes But the smart Tech uses all 3 processes.

Parts are very much available for this repair on the C3 as are many how to's for this repair.
The C3 is my Favorite Corvette, I have had a few over the years.

Keep in mind if your car is this far gone the rest of the Bird cage is more than likely in dire need of attention as well.

Any thing is repairable, Its all in how much money you wanna throw at it.
And or how creative in making your own parts.

Post up your repair pics lets watch you do it. :allgood:

I have always wanted to restore a Corvette but don't know much about them. This will be a very interesting project to follow. Please post it in the Projects Section if you are inclined to do so.

If I offended you ? I meant no harm at all just to point out what may be required or what parts may ? be required to pull the job off..... please post as you see fit as to what your project requires.....
