Making slow progress, seem to need parts all the time and it takes min 2 weeks to get anything. I did get the wiring for the vert top so I'll get that wired and finally get the gauges in.
I was scuffing up the new gas tank for paint and when I sprayed w&g remover on it I really liked the look. I ended up getting some DTM clear coat so we'll see how that turns out.
Are you in Germany and can't do anything interesting or fun? That sucks

Stay well Dennis

Hang in there Dennis, that's an awfully long business trip made all the worse with the lockdowns.
Clear coated the gas tank, I love it, now I'm thinking I want to do a car or truck that way. Need to have near perfect metal finishing though. I have my 89 Chev pickup, might work if I can weld in new cab corners perfectly Rob

Looks good, I used clear on some of those parts I plated its still stuck on em last I looked. But I didn't use a special clear?

Went to install the power top wiring harness and I have the wrong side. I gather you can get a left or right side harness. My original one is right side so it's about 8' longer. No way I can route it down the left, can't fit the rear body harness along with this one through the small opening at the end of the sill plate. So now I have to wait at least 2 weeks to get the right one. Only other option is to cut the harness and reconnect it after routing the wires without the large connector.
This is getting frustrating, seems to happen way too often Rob

Hmmm doesn't sound very cool.
I would be hesitant to modify the Harness, Is a one piece harness to whole car or just a Plug in harness to the rest of the car? Dennis B.

The power top harness is separate from the main harness. In fact, originally it doesn't even connect to the main harness. There's 3 wires from the switch, 2 go to the motor and one goes to the starter solenoid to get power. I'm not going to go to the solenoid for power as I have extra power wires with the new harness.
The original harness went down the right side where there's lots of room so ideally I want to do that again. If I have to cut it and reconnect I will but I'm guessing I can get a longer harness. Unfortunately it's a holiday so I can't call my supplier until tomorrow. I tried to fit the scuff plates and that's way off too. Not sure what the deal with that is. Sits perfectly flat on the inner rocker but close to 3/8" above the outer rocker. The screws will no doubt pull it down but it may not look at all right? Rob

Are they Originals? if so just may need some tweaking to get them to lay flat again.
they take some abuse when used. I found an Out fit making repops door sells for my Chrysler they only want $1000 a set I get that tooling up to make a part is expensive, But dam. I can and will be cleaning my originals for that much. Dennis B.

They're repops but they look just like the old beat up ones that lay in there perfectly. The old ones look like they've been stretched a bit but it seems crazy that I would need to bend it down over half an inch. I can fit my finger between it and the outer rocker.
A $1000 for scuff plates Rob

Looks like the Carpet may not be laying down real good their.
Might try a Hot iron on the carpet edge to lay it down flat? I have a Upholstery steamer for heating up new materials to get them to do what I want. A Must have for stretching new seat covers Dennis B.
