I know aluminum is fine for grounding, I just prefer to not mix metals for a ground especially.

That's crazy about the balancer. I don't work on newer cars but on old ones I can't imagine one backing off. At least it's not a way bigger problem

I wouldn't worry about the Aluminum not at all.

Ya I think its the Dam Stretch bolt deal They say replace it in the manual I didn't.
Oh well like you said at least its not really serious, Just wish I could have seen it without pulling the engine out. But their was no way I could see exactly what was going on with it in the car, and their would have been no way to get it off without pulling the steering Rack and even then it would have been dam near impossible to get it off in the car period.

:flatten: :knockout:  :whoops:

I ordered all the new parts this morning should be all here in a day or two and I can start put it back together.

I forgot you pulled the motor, lot of work for a $10 part but who would have thought you really should replace it.

I'm going to work on the rear interior qtr panels. There's some cracks and small chunks out of it. Need to fiberglass in some repairs and then glue the new upholstery on. Once I get them installed all the seats can go in.

I got the front end and the engine out side yesterday steam cleaned all the oil off of them what a mess, Cleaned up shop put tools away while I wait for parts.
Should have most of the parts today I hope.

I had a couple broken Plastic parts I repaired with my Plastic welder I purchased from Polyvance worked great.

On your panels were they plastic covered by material originally?

I have a Few interior Panels I plane to repair as you describe.

I've always wanted a plastic welder, would have come in handy many times.

It's mostly plastic with a piece of metal screwed to it. Metal is painted, plastic is wrapped with vinyl. For some reason the plastic is knotched all around and then covered with some weird foam under the vinyl. Some of the foam tore off pulling the old material off so I need to do something with that too.

I seen panels like that Spray panel and foam separately then after it gets tacky put em together then spray foam and Vinyl or material separately let em get tacky then stick em together easy pezzy.

I got the Vets engine all back together today all repaired and its ready to go back in in the morning. Cant wait to get it back together and running and back to old issue of no heat from inop heater mixing valve.

This whole thing was an unexpected, I cant have it down need it as a back up for VW for my commute. Side note BMW is turning out to be a Good car still has a few minor problems to sort out but nothing major.
I want to change all the Rod bearing in it though after doing more research on it so that will be another major project coming up real soon, BUT it beats having to rebuild the engine!

Still have so many other projects up in the air that demand time!
I want so bad to get caught up and no current projects going I am making it my new years resolution to get every thing that's currently in the pipe done and finalized this year and sold or put into service done with the junk laying around I want it ALL gone!
Want my life simplified!!!!!!!!!!

Most of the foam stayed stuck to the panel, it's getting the pieces that tore off back on smooth enough to cover properly.
Getting the Vette back will be nice. Wouldn't do you much good here, we got about a foot of snow and got as cold as 18 recently. Very cold for this part of the world.
Happy to hear the BMW has turned out to be a good car after all the initial hassle.
What auction are you watching? Haven't seen one in a while.

I dunno Mecum I think? was on Satellite tv probably a rerun didn't pay too much attention to it just the cars and prices they were selling for Plus the no sales lots of those, Glad owners are not giving stuff away. It was a 2021 auction tho.

Engine going back in today waiting for Parts place to get a delivery in, waiting for one eng mount Both were broke didn't notice it till this morning when I was bolting it to the sub frame. Never fails think your good to go and then you find something else.

Two broken engine mounts? engine may be a bit more peppy than I give it credit.

Another day of frustration, tried gluing the vinyl on but couldn't get it to fit right. Had to pull it off, of course it tore a whole bunch of the foam so had to pull that all off. I replaced it with some sound deadener I had. Fills some of the space and easy enough to work with. While trying to stretch the vinyl over the arm rest area I broke one of my fiberglass repairs, it's a very thin piece beside the ashtray. Reglassed it and I'll try again tomorrow. Wouldn't be so bad if it didn't have that 90 degree arm rest built into it.
I hate days where you spend all day getting nothing done.

Hope you did better with the Vette
