When I first started learning auto body, the answer to which filler is superior was based on things I no longer find important, or rather, found other properties to be of greater importance as I learned to use certain things to my advantage. At first I was hyper focused on working time because i had the one thing to fill and was spending too much time spreading filler to the point that it hardened before i could spread it all nice and pretty. You know how that goes, i tried to use less hardener, which lead to clogged sandpaper, so i tried mixing smaller amounts, which lead to not having enough product to cover the repair area and by the time you sand the newly applied filler, the areas that were just right became low spots and you keep messing up and filler is not cheap so you feel like you're being wasteful and wonder if you just need to find better filler, and by the time you work with enough products you come to a realization that in most cases, using better filler won't lead to better results. What leads to better results is knowing what you're doing wrong, and why you're having problems. I can almost guarantee you, it's not because your filler wasn't good enough. Yeah, some filler is much easier to sand, i won't argue that, but there is no filler on the market that is so bad that you can't get the work done. Once you understand that filler is filler, and learn to work with what you have, your questions about other products will probably not even be worth asking.

I do agree, evercoat is overpriced and that's because they spend so much marketing their product that it becomes what you're paying for when you buy any of their stuff. I have a half used gallon of rage ultra and rage ultra extra, and they are each the first gallons ive bought and they will be the last because they cost so much that you don't even feel like using the stuff. But then i have some usc and upol fillers that im on gallon 3 or 4 that I will keep buying not because one is better than the other but because Im not retarded to pay an arm and a leg for something that will end up on the floor anyway. Yeah most shops use evercoat but do you honestly think it's because they ALL tried out most of the fillers on the market and came to the same exact conclusion about evercoat being the best, or do you think evercoat makes a slightly, barely noticable difference in performance body filler that they market the **** out of and that's what you're paying for just so you can feel like you're in the dame crowd as all the good shops because you both use the same brand filler.

If all fillers were white, i bet that in most cases, you wouldn't be able to tell one from the other if your life depended on it.

Ok. I'm confused. What's a "half used gallon"? If it's a gallon then it's still a gallon and can't be a half a gallon. Or was it a gallon of Ultra and a gallon of Ultra Extra, each now half used and therefore one gallon? Or did the Ultra and the Ultra Extra come in the same gallon?

Just about all fillers are white. It's the hardener that's coloured.

I was told by a local shop to use Evercoat Featherfill G2. He says most of his work lasts well over ten years and provides a lifetime warranty on fade and shop defects.

I suppose I'll delve into the rabbit hole and research USC filler. What is the lifespan, fade, and adhesion? It'll be top coated with Omni MP170 anyway then base then clear. Perhaps I'm not asking the right questions since I'm not a painter and just a hobbyist restoring one vehicle.

Is putty filler better than sprayable? I dn't know. I would prefer sprayable since it seems easier than having to knock down gross amounts of putty filler and having to deal with the dust despite a vacuum sander.

Trying to price out all of my paint materials so I'm ready after all the bodywork is finished.
