Hi Autobody hope everyone is well,
Working on one of my own project cars and I have a 2k transparent sealer I want to use.
My specific brand states the sealer can be tinted. I have already primed and sanded my damaged panels up to 800 grit and unfortunately have some spots I've sanded to metal (thumb size), I do not want to go to the effort of reprimeing hence why I want to use the sealer.
My sealers brand is Kapci and the TDS states I can use their mixing system to tint the sealer (up to 10%), however as I just do my own projects I do not have such mixing systems and get my paints matched at paint stores.
Would I be safe to tint the sealer with my own basecoat (its a metallic)?
Should I just blast a layer transparent sealer then apply a separate layer of basecoat over it?
Thanks family,
Looking forward to the responses

What they are saying is you can go to your autobody jobber ( store where you bought the sealer) and they most likely will give you a color to tint it with. for me it's a bunch easier to shoot it with a tint, easier to see it going on.

Tinters do differ from system to system. Most are compatible, but some are not. I'd just go and buy a small quantity of the sealer colour you want to use.
10% will still be somewhat transparent. Don't use metallic base in a sealer. Chris

one important thing about sealers, is that they make everything one color so you get GOOD even color coverage from your base. a transparent sealer isn't going to do that.
