Looking for a primer color for a 2004-2008 F150.
The image attached displays a type of gray and what seems to be a maybe a filler/sealer(?) roughly a skin tone. Is there a catalog of paint codes Ford used for the primers they used? Currently I have Omni MP170 grey and waiting to finish other projects before resand and spraying. I wouldn't think using another top coat of the MP170 over the current coat will detract from the original factory base color. Perhaps it may.

Try looking here: http://colorlv.automotiveartpaints.com/#/
Do a search for your Ford color code and if it requires a particular primer color it will be listed. 1968 Coronet R/T

I don't see a specific primer. I always believed the primer color enhanced the final base color.

In some colors the primer is meant to contribute to the final result, however most paints do not.
Think about a spray out card. It has black and white squares on it to help you determine what is full coverage or true color. You spray coats counting the number necessary so that you do not see any shade difference from the black to white squares. Motobase LV is what I use for most everything now. It covers great, usually in two coats but I like to spray 3 coats of color just to be sure. nice, second and third are great.
I wonder if I should use that two-tone on a Ford? |
