Wait time between base and clear

I use the standard Gerson tack cloths, very lightly over the base. But the base does need to be put on so it's smooth - can't have dry areas which might catch on the cloth. If you're getting a lot of larger dust particles settled on or into the base then you have a problem with your painting area. Didn't you say that you're doing some upgrade to/from the pig barn? That might well fix it.

The quality of tack clothes is critical as stated above. Some will even leave behind a residue so be sure to do your research.
